Bobby’s 240z (#7224)

I purchased this car back in September of 1996 from the original owner. Though not part of our family, Art Barackman, was as close to family as you can get. He and my dad worked at NAVO (Naval Oceanographic Office) together and he stood in my parents wedding. Art bought the car brand new in Washington DC. The story as I understand it…he had the money, called the Datsun dealership and basically said “what do you have?” They told him there were 3 cars coming in, one was spoken for, the other 2 were destined for the Washington DC Autoshow…he could show up at the show and pick out the one he wanted. I remembered seeing this car off and on throughout my young life and in a strange case of events, back in 1996, I was able to buy it from Art for $500. At the time the car was not running and had not been on the road for a few years. Over the years, I have done a few things, but never anything substantial and never has it run.

Now, as a retired firefighter, I am ready to get this this obsession back on the road. On October 11, 2020, the road to restoration began and we moved it out of storage and to the body shop where the work will take place, Inferno Customz (Facebook Website). Kelly is one of my firefighters that I have know for years and have trusted him with all of our work (if you have kids, you know what I mean). Kelly and his team are as excited as I am to do this project and see it through.
